Since this is a very new type of service, we wanted to experience it firsthand before promoting and selling it. We found the signup website to be informative and easy to use. After we placed our order, the package from Vonage arrived after only two business days! Installation was very simple and quick, as advertised.

Overall we're very pleased with the service. Most phone calls are of fine audio quality.

Occasionally our called party complains that our voice "broke up" briefly, similar to a temporarily poor cellphone connection.

But for the great majority of phone calls this is never a problem.

It should be noted that most broadband internet providers (either DSL or cable modem) limit their upstream speed to something between 128 - 256kbps. Since the Vonage DigitalVoice service requires 90kbps, we have learned that for maximum voice quality, it is best to limit use of the internet connection during phone calls, especially any upstream data usage, such as sending email or transferring files.

These limitations do not detract significantly from the overall attractiveness of this product, however.
